Position Requirements

  • Work out mechanical and electrical faults by discussion with users, listening to engines and using specialised testing equipment 
  • Take apart faulty engine assemblies, check parts using precision measuring equipment and refer to workshop manuals 
  • Clean, lubricate and tune engines for servicing and repair requirements 
  • Welding and repairs to Aluminum boats  
  • Set up and water-test outboard / Inboard motors and all types of marine craft 
  • Pre-rigging new boat Packages 
  • Other duties as directed 

Personal Requirements

  • Enjoy practical and manual work 
  • Good Customer Service skills & good general communication skills 
  • Physically fit 
  • Normal eyesight and hearing 
  • Technical aptitude 
  • Problem-solving skills 
  • Able to read and interpret technical information from service manuals 
  • No skin allergies or reactions to grease, oil or petrol 
  • Willing to get a boat licence if you don’t already have one 
  • Good computer skills 

The Apprentice would be working 38 hours per week, 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, weekend / on call work may be required.  There is also a TAFE component to be completed as part of the Apprenticeship.  The successful applicant will be placed on a six-month probation period. Applicants who are considered suitable will be required to attend an interview.
